The Ohio
State University - Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) earns National
Recognition. Again!
The American
Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) has honored OSU's Family Medicine
Interest Group (FMIG) with the prestigious Program of Excellence Award
for the seventh consecutive year.
Each year,
the AAFP accepts applications for this award from each FMIG across the
nation. The application explains in detail the various aspects of our
group from the past year, including Infrastructure, Student Involvement/Student
Retention, Family Practice Advocacy, and Community Outreach/Patient
Advocacy. The AAFP then selects the top ten FMIGs in the nation and
honors them with this impressive award.
In addition
to the Program of Excellence Award, FMIG earned a second national award
this year for the comprehensive Infrastructure of the organization.
That totals
12 national awards in three years! Hats off the leaders and members
of OSU's FMIG! Thanks go out to all the leaders of FMIG that contributed
to the organization, especially the graduating seniors who have done
so much for the group. A special thank you goes out to all the support
that FMIG receives from the Department of Family Medicine, as well the
area physicians and residency programs.
Get
Involved in FMIG
There
are many opportunities to be involved in FMIG. You do not need to decide
on a career in Family Medicine before you become involved. Some good
ways to get involved during your first and second year are the FMIG
meeting and workshop or the mentorship program. To learn more about
these programs click on the FMIG button at left. Another easy way to
get involved and learn more about Family Medicine is through the FMIG
community service projects; for more information, click on the Community
